ecbel two way charger

A Montreal-based company is developing a whole-home energy management system called dcbel. This charger sits on the wall in your garage and connects your car to the house. The dcbel r16 has an LCD display on the front, as well as two EV power connections that users can customize depending on their EV model. It requires professional installation into your home’s energy system, at which point it can manage power coming from both the grid and solar panels. Because it can pull DC power directly from solar panels, it can technically reach much faster-charging speeds in many situations. While AC/DC conversion tech has gotten much more efficient in recent years, totally skipping that often unnecessary step offers an upgrade in terms of speed and efficiency. It’s also a bidirectional charger, which means it can act as a two-way bridge between power supplies and an electric car’s battery packs. Right now, there are only a few EVs on the market that support this kind of power distribution, including the Nissan Leaf and the Mitsubishi Outlander. Depending on your usage, a typical EV has enough juice to power a typical home for more than 10 hours.

Polestar2

The all-electric model will be hitting the market early this Fall with a new single-motor powertrain variation to accompany the existing dual motor edition — this will help bring down the price without sacrificing vehicle options and capabilities. The single motor will feature the longest range in Polestar 2 lineup with an estimated distance of about 430 kilometres. By comparison, the long range dual motor can travel an estimated 400 kilometres between charges.

Additionally, the Polestar 2 comes in at a significantly lower price than its larger sibling and is now eligible for provincial incentives. Drivers can get their hands on the single-motor edition in Ontario for $49,900, and in Quebec and British Columbia for as low as $41,900 and $46,900, respectively. The dual motor ranges from as low as $48,900 in Quebec, to $53,900 in British Columbia, and $56,900 in Ontario.

Accompanying the heat pump in the Plus Pack is an enhanced audio system from Harman Kardon and vegan upholstery; the Pilot Pack focuses on driver assistance technologies and safety features; the Performance Pack provides better suspension, brakes, and tires, but is only available on the dual motor.

PREDICTED DELIVERY 2022

The Polestar 2 is currently available for order online at the company’s website.

Tesla Cybertruck

Tesla announced that it would begin delivering its first Tesla Cyber Truck in 2022

Cybertruck is built with an exterior shell made for ultimate durability and passenger protection. Starting with a nearly impenetrable exoskeleton, every component is designed for superior strength and endurance, from Ultra-Hard 30X Cold-Rolled stainless-steel structural skin to Tesla armor glass.

If there was something better, we’d use it. Help eliminate dents, damage and long-term corrosion with a smooth monochrome exoskeleton that puts the shell on the outside of the car and provides you and your passengers maximum protection.

Ultra-strong glass and polymer-layered composite can absorb and redirect impact force for improved performance and damage tolerance.

Volkswagon announced that it would begin delivering its first Electric Passenger Van called BUZZ  by 2022

Buzz Concept Volkswagon

Following in iconic footsteps, the unique look of the ID. BUZZ Concept brings back fond memories of Volkswagen past, while promising a revolution in everyone’s future. The ID. BUZZ, the electric successor to the Microbus, will begin production in 2022.

PREDICTED DELIVERY 2022

The I.D. Buzz concept will go into production, sparking a new generation of Microbus fans Driven by popular demand, Volkswagen announced today it is planning on selling a production version of the award-winning I.D. Buzz concept electric vehicle in 2022 for the United States, Europe and China.

DETROIT AUTO SHOW - AWARDS

Designed to recall the original Type 2 Microbus without mimicking it, the I.D. Buzz concept has won several awards in the months since it was revealed at the Detroit Auto Show. The front V in the bodywork calls back to the two-tone predecessor on the original Bus, but in the I.D. Buzz carries a light strip that surrounds the vehicle and gives it a unique visual signature. The LED headlights have hexagonal segments that act as “eyes” to communicate the vehicle’s status. With near-zero body overhangs and 22-inch wheels, the I.D. Buzz manages to look modern and timeless, one of the hallmarks of Volkswagen brand design. The first VW Bus sold in the United States in 1950 had all of 30 hp. The I.D. Buzz concept sports 369 hp from electric motors on each axle that also provide all wheel drive and the 111 kWh battery pack in the floor of the MEB chassis provide nearly 300 miles of estimated range. Using a VW fast-charge system, it can recharge about 80 percent of its energy capacity in 30 minutes at 150 kW. But just like the original Microbus, the design and engineering of the I.D.

Buzz concept and MEB platform provides ample space for passengers or cargo, with an expansive view of the surroundings. There’s even a front trunk, just like the original VW Beetle. The I.D. Buzz concept also offers a preview of the type of autonomous technology that VW will develop for future models – namely its fully automated “I.D. Pilot” mode that could go into production by 2025. From the fold-away steering wheel and pop-up laser scanners in the roof to a heads-up display that integrates augmented reality, the I.D. Buzz does not lack for innovation.

RIVIAN

Rivian

Rivian R1T is an all-electric pickup truck from new American startup brand Rivian, and it promises between 250 and 400 miles of driving range and lightning-quick acceleration. Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s CEO said: “As with most of our major investments, and acquisitions, we’re always looking for mission-driven entrepreneurs — missionaries instead of mercenaries. And the guy who leads the company, a guy named R.J., is one of the most missionary entrepreneurs I’ve ever met.” He’s referring to Rivian’s CEO, R.J. Scaringe. All told, Scaringe has been able to raise $1.7 billion, without selling a single truck yet.
